Magazine app (tablet)

VISUAL & INTERACTION DESIGN

I have designed this app version of the The Athens News Messenger by using Adobe DPS. The magazine has provided the images and the text and a list of the main sections to be included in this issue and I have designed the content. There were no design restrictions, but the challenge was to design the wireframes so that all the content is included. Given the large audience that would interact with this app, from students, to university professors, and local residents, I have given a special attention to the UI elements and made them feel familiar to what users may already know. Taking into consideration that there is also an elderly audience, I have included a very explicit navigation guide at the beginning and made the size of the UI elements bigger. Since this is a news magazine, I kept the interactions reversible, so that the users can always return to the main section page. I have also provided visual clues for returning to the beginning of each section, and made sure that they are consistent with user expectations. (Project completed in 2013.)
